Shumee Toys Review: Fun and Learning for Kids (Ages 3+)

When it comes to toys that blend education and play, Shumee toys hit the mark with toys designed to engage children in meaningful ways. We recently got our hands on a few Shumee toys, and here’s a review of our experiences with each. These games are suitable for kids aged 3 years and above, with varying levels of complexity to cater to different age groups.

1. Ramayana Snap Card Game (Ages 3+)

Rules to Play:

Setup: Shuffle the deck and distribute all cards equally among players while keeping their piles face down.

Gameplay: Players take turns flipping the top card of their pile onto a shared central stack. When two consecutive cards match (color, character, or scene), players shout “Snap!” to win the stack.

Winning: The player who collects most cards, wins.

Special Situations: If a “Snap!” call is tied, the stack goes to a “Snap Pot” for future wins. Players can rejoin if they run out of cards by winning a “Snap Pot.”

This stack has 52 cards, all in pairs. There are 5 ways to play the game, described in the game manual that comes along with the cards. Depending on the age of the players, one can choose the complexity.

My Experience with the Shumee Ramayana Snap Card Game

Playing the Ramayana Snap Card Game was a delightful mix of fun and learning. The vibrant illustrations sparked discussions about the Ramayana, making it a playful way to introduce characters and stories from Hindu Mythology.

Everyone eagerly waited to shout “Snap!” during matching moments which brings bursts of laughter all around. It’s perfect for family playtime, seamlessly blending education and excitement. It is a fun and open-ended game in which people of all ages can join in the fun, even grandparents.

2. India Puzzle, Memory Card (Ages 3+)

Rules to Play:

Puzzle: Assemble the puzzle pieces to form a map of India, individually or as a group.

Memory Card Game: Place all the cards scattered, with the state side facing up. Together, all players must build the state map by matching the cards to their respective states.

My Experience with India Puzzle and Memory Card Game from Shumee Toys

The India Puzzle and Memory Card set brought hours of fun while being educational. The puzzle was a hit for learning India’s map, while the memory card game sharpened cognitive skills and doubled as a geography lesson. It helped children learn more about each state with little facts on the cards. It’s perfect for those rainy days or slow weekends when indoor play becomes the order of the day.

3. Indiascapes Card Game (Ages 4+)

Rules to Play:

Setup: Shuffle the deck and divide the cards equally among players. The cards feature landscapes, cultural elements, and famous places in India. There are 5 categories of cards – Iconic Places, Art & Culture, Food and Delicacies, Flora & Fauna, and Interesting Trivia.

Gameplay: Players take turns placing a card in the central pile, describing the feature on their card. If it matches a previously declared category, the player wins the pile.

Winning: The game ends when one player collects most of the cards.

Variations: Add challenges like speed rounds or trivia for an extra twist.

My Experience with Shumee Toys Indiascapes Card Game

The Indiascapes Card Game was an engaging way to introduce my children to the diversity of India. It spoke about our nation’s diversity in various formats, enhancing knowledge about our culture on a deeper and more sophisticated level.  The Shumee game has 150 unique cards, talking about 5 different categories of diversity in a fun trivia format. The game is open-ended and one can generate any form of play with them. The cards spurred curiosity and conversation about different states and landmarks, making it more than just a game—it was a mini geography and culture trivia. The flexibility in game rules allowed us to create our own variations, keeping the play dynamic and educational.

4. Spin Tops (Ages 3+)

Rules to Play:

Basic Play: Spin the top on a flat surface, using a quick twist to get it moving.

Challenges: Compete for the longest spin time, navigate obstacles, or aim for target zones.

My Experience with Shumee Toys Spin Tops

The Spin Tops were simple yet captivating. Watching my kids improve their spinning technique and invent their own little games was a joy. Just like everyone’s childhood tops, these can spin upside down as well. The tops are durable and come in bright colors, making them visually appealing. The classic charm of spin tops made for a lovely blend of nostalgia and new playtime fun.
